Executive Powers: A Changing Landscape of Authority

Kentucky Law Journal Symposium

The 2024 Fall Kentucky Law Journal Symposium “Executive Powers: A Changing Landscape of Authority,” focused on the future of executive powers in the state of Kentucky as well as the future of the federal executive branch with an eye toward the 2024 election. The symposium focused on on the legal and policy implications of the 2024 election and how it may change executive power in the near future. KLJ would like to discuss the immediate and long-term effects of presidential immunity in the wake of Trump v. United States and how executive privileges and transparency will look in the future.

We are excited to have been joined by nationally renowned legal scholars and practitioners to explore these topics. We are especially honored to have been joined by Mr. Paul Colborn who has over 30 years of experience with the DOJ Office of Legal Counsel, who will be participating in a Q&A, as well as Ms. Amy Cubbage, Gov. Beshear’s General Counsel during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The Symposium was held at the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law on October 18, 2024 (9:00am - 5:00pm) in the G. Chad Perry III Grand Courtroom #199.
